2025 Annual General Meeting Recap

TORONTO, ON – November 14th, 2025 – The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) shares the outcomes of its 127th Annual General Meeting, held at White Oaks Resort & Spa in Niagara-On-The-Lake on November 8th, 2025.

This year’s AGM included the election of three Board of Directors positions, each appointed for a three-year term. Sean O’Callaghan was nominated and acclaimed as President. Mary Sticca was nominated and acclaimed as Vice President, Minor Box, and Ian Garrison as Vice President, Officiating.

During the meeting, a special presentation was made to recognize the 20th anniversary of the Ontario Lacrosse Festival, the OLA’s flagship event and the world’s largest youth box lacrosse tournament. Since its inception in 2003, the Festival has grown to include more than 400 teams each summer, serving as a unifying celebration of the sport for players, coaches, officials, and families across Ontario.

Earlier this year, the Durham Regional Council formally recognized the Ontario Lacrosse Festival as a celebrated tradition within the region, and proclaimed “Lacrosse Week in Ontario” for July 31 – August 9, 2026. This acknowledgment reflects the dedication of countless volunteers and clubs who have contributed to the Festival’s success over the past two decades.

In celebration of this milestone, the Festival’s founder Ron MacSpadyen was presented with a special commemorative jersey honouring his vision and leadership toward establishing and growing the Ontario Lacrosse Festival. His creativity, innovation, and commitment have helped transform an idea into a cornerstone event for the lacrosse community — one that continues to inspire new generations of players and families each season.

A number of proposed amendments were also considered at this year’s AGM; the outcomes of each proposed amendment is available for review here.
