Ontario Lacrosse Celebrates Excellence With 2024 Ola Awards Ceremony

TORONTO, ON – November 18th, 2024 – The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) celebrated the outstanding achievements of its members during the 2024 OLA Awards ceremonies, held as part of the 127th Annual General Meeting at White Oaks Resort & Spa in Niagara-On-The-Lake on November 9th, 2024.

The ceremonies, which took place during both the OLA Awards Luncheon and the OLA Dinner Banquet, were dedicated to recognizing the exceptional accomplishments of OLA players, coaches, and volunteers. In addition, the event honoured individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and success of the Ontario Lacrosse community.

The following awards were presented:

2024 Ontario Lacrosse Association Volunteer Service Awards

PRESIDENTS’ AWARD:

Presented to each nominated person upon reaching twenty (20) years of volunteer service as a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Association.

CREATOR’S GAME AWARD:

Presented to each nominated person upon reaching thirty (30) years of volunteer service as a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Association.

HERITAGE GAME AWARD:

Presented to each nominated person upon reaching forty (40) years of volunteer service as a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Association.

Presented to each nominated person upon reaching fifty (50) years of volunteer service as a member of the Ontario Lacrosse Association.

KEN MURRAY AWARD:

Awarded annually to the minor lacrosse volunteer whose unselfish motivations are demonstrated by the dedication of their efforts to “helping the kids.”

Danielle Carroll (Clarington Gaels)

MERV MACKENZIE AWARD:

Awarded annually since 1959 for outstanding promotion of lacrosse in Ontario.

Rob Michalsky (Mimico Mountaineers)

LACROSSE PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD (Thomas “Tip” Teather Trophy):

Awarded annually since 1960 for outstanding service to the sport of lacrosse.

BOBBY ALLAN AWARD:

Awarded annually to the OMFLL Coach of the Year.

Kevin “Cubb” McNaughton (Six Nations)

LAURIE MONTGOMERY AWARD:

Awarded annually to the volunteer whose motivations are demonstrated by their dedication and determination to promoting and bettering the sport of field lacrosse.

Michelle Falkiner (Orangeville Northmen)

RICK “TUGGY” PASSFIELD MEMORIAL AWARD:

Awarded annually to the U13 Goaltender demonstrating the most potential in the game of field lacrosse.

Ethan Mastorakos (Whitby Warriors)

RYAN HABER MEMORIAL AWARD:

Awarded annually to the most valuable U17 field lacrosse player.

Evan Barrett (Whitby Warriors)

STAN COCKERTON AWARD:

Awarded annually to the U17 field lacrosse player who combines high proficiency with sportsmanship.
