Ontario Lacrosse to Introduce First Official Mascot

TORONTO, ON — The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA, @ontariolacrosse) is excited to announce the introduction of its first-ever official mascot, marking a historic milestone for the Association and inviting the Ontario lacrosse community to help write the next chapter by choosing its name.

The mascot will make its official debut at the 2026 Ontario Lacrosse Festival, but before the reveal, the OLA is inviting players, coaches, officials, volunteers, clubs, families, and fans from across the province to help choose its name while giving the Ontario lacrosse community an exclusive first look at its newest ambassador.

Inspired by Canada's national animal, the beaver was chosen for what it represents rather than simply what it is.

Known as nature's ecosystem engineers, beavers work tirelessly to create environments where entire communities can thrive. That philosophy mirrors the foundation of the Ontario Lacrosse Association, where thousands of dedicated volunteers, coaches, officials, administrators, and families work together to build opportunities for players across the province.

The beaver mascot embodies the values that have shaped the game in Ontario for generations:

  • Building opportunities for players across Ontario.

  • Creating places where everyone belongs.

  • Working hard behind the scenes to make the game better.

  • Teamwork over individual achievement.

  • Growing the game for future generations.

As part of today’s announcement, the OLA is inviting submissions for the mascot's official name. The winning entry will be unveiled during the Ontario Lacrosse Festival as the mascot makes its official debut before becoming a regular presence at provincial championships, community events, and player development initiatives across the province.

Contest details, eligibility, submission deadlines, and the official entry form are available at ontariolacrosse.com/mascot-contest
