What Is SIXES?
Sixes is a fast, modern, and highly skilled version of lacrosse played outdoors on a condensed field with six players per side: three field players, two midfielders, and a goalie. Designed for continuous, high-tempo action, Sixes features a 30-second shot clock, quick restarts, and constant transition play.
Sixes is the newest global discipline of lacrosse, developed by World Lacrosse to create a fast, accessible, and viewer-friendly format suitable for international competition. Its streamlined rules and smaller rosters reduce barriers to entry while showcasing the skill, athleticism, and creativity central to lacrosse across all versions of the game.
Sixes has gained significant international momentum and will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, marking a historic milestone for the sport. This global recognition has accelerated growth across Ontario.
