Ontario Lacrosse Association Approves Gloucester Griffins And West Grey Rampage For Junior “C” Competition In 2026

TORONTO, ON – February 5, 2026 – The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) has approved the Gloucester Griffins and the West Grey Rampage for competition in the Ontario Junior “C” Lacrosse League (OJCLL) for the 2026 season.

The approval was granted by the OLA Board of Directors at its meeting on December 6, 2025, following a review of the submitted applications and a recommendation from the Ontario Junior “C” Lacrosse League. The decision aligns with the OLA’s mandate to oversee and support the delivery of structured, sustainable junior lacrosse programming across the province.

The Gloucester Griffins will return to Junior C competition, with the team operated by the Gloucester Minor Lacrosse Association. The program builds on the association’s established minor system and its U22 program and will serve as a player development pathway supporting progression to the Gloucester Junior B program. The Griffins will primarily play their home games at Earl Armstrong Arena in Ottawa.

The West Grey Rampage has been approved as a new Junior C franchise, expanding junior-level lacrosse opportunities within the region. The team will be operated by the West Grey Rampage Minor Lacrosse Association under the leadership of President Kody Lyons. The association has experienced growth in recent years, including consistent participation at the U22 level. The addition of a Junior C team builds on the club’s commitment to community-based development and provides a local pathway for athletes to compete at the junior level while remaining within their home association. The team will play its home games at the Durham Community Centre and Arena in Durham, Ontario.

Both teams will compete in the Ontario Junior “C” Lacrosse League for the 2026 season. Their placement supports the OLA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen junior lacrosse programming across Ontario by aligning league membership with sustainable operations, strong governance, and clearly defined player development pathways. The OJCLL plays an important role within the OLA’s junior structure, providing competitive opportunities for athletes while supporting community-based development programs throughout the province. The OLA will continue to work with the OJCLL and its member clubs as preparations for the 2026 season move forward.
