What Is Women’s Field?

Women’s Field Lacrosse is played outdoors on a full-sized grass or turf field with twelve players per side: three attackers, five midfielders, three defenders, and a goalie. With minimal protective equipment and rules designed to promote safe, free-flowing movement, the women’s game highlights agility, stickwork, communication, and positional awareness. The larger field and continuous play encourage transition speed, smart spacing, and coordinated team movement across all phases of the game.

Teams rely on a balance of structured systems and instinctive playmaking. Quick passing, off-ball movement, controlled possessions, and full-field rides and clears shape the rhythm of the women’s game.

Women’s Field Lacrosse showcases athleticism, finesse, and teamwork, making it a central part of Ontario’s lacrosse landscape and a defining pathway for female athletes.
